Profile note

Europe's largest private AI lab until AMD bought it for ~$665M in Aug 2024; the team now sits inside the AMD Artificial Intelligence Group. Crucially the open-model work did NOT stop — Poro 2 (Jun 2025) and Poro 2 Long / Math Reasoning (2026) shipped under the AMD Silo AI name, still with TurkuNLP and HPLT, still on LUMI. Two things changed: there is no independent Finnish model-as-a-service company any more, and licensing regressed from Apache-2.0 (Poro 1, Viking) to the Llama 3.3 Community License (Poro 2) because Poro 2 is a Llama derivative.
