Profile note
Historically the single most consequential AI lab in this segment: Jürgen Schmidhuber's group at IDSIA co-invented LSTM (with Sepp Hochreiter, who now runs NXAI in Linz), the architecture behind a generation of speech and translation systems and the direct ancestor of NXAI's xLSTM. Today it runs applied NLP/LLM research with the Swiss banking sector rather than training foundation models. No models of its own to serve, no pricing.
