Slovakia's first independent AI research institute, led by Mária Bieliková. SlovakBERT (with Gerulata Technologies) was the first public large Slovak neural language model, trained on ~20GB of Slovak web text. KInIT's NLP focus is disinformation detection, multilingual and low-resource processing — NOT general-purpose generative LLMs. There is currently no Slovak national generative LLM comparable to PLLuM/BgGPT: the only generative Slovak models found are community efforts such as slovak-gpt-j (162M–1.4B, by Milos Kondela, community-released on HuggingFace).
