Profile note
Norway's media-industry-backed model family: eight models released spring 2024 with a national launch on 15 May 2024, trained on 51B tokens including data contributed under agreement by Schibsted, NRK and VG. The distinguishing feature — and the directory-relevant catch — is that access is restricted to Nordic students, companies and organisations, which makes these models unusable to the wider European market, unlike UiO's Apache-2.0 NorMistral. A new roadmap was presented at the NorwAI Innovate conference in 2025; the promised ~40B base model could not be verified as publicly released.
